My first attempt at Elizabethan hair

My first attempt was challenging. Tara (my model) had really healthy and soft hair so it was difficult to work with. After I crimped it Tara's hair became more coarse and became a little easier to style so I  sectioned her hair first. I began at the back and sectioned the back section into three more sections. I french plaited the outer two sections of the back section then I made the middle section into a bun and rapped the outer 2 plaits around the bun. I then began on the middle section of Tara's hair. I crimped it  all the way through, back brushed it and then secured the rats in place. This helped create the heart shape and to give Tara's hair more height and volume. I then started to curl the front section through and pin the curls to set them.
I feel that I understand and can execute the basic techniques needed to create this look. I think my section skills are getting stronger and that if I practise my skills can only grow. I do however feel that my idea today was a little too complicated and fussy for the little amount of time we had. I struggled to hide the clips and loose hairs. I feel that I could prepare my idea better the next time now that I have an understanding of time management. I need to practise my technique and hopefully I'll become better at problem solving but I really enjoyed the practise. I really enjoy doing hair and I'm looking forward to progressing and learning more.
I found today really useful and it highlighted my strengths and weaknesses which I need in order to develop my ideas and techniques.
I'm feeling really inspired today and I'm enjoying researching my ideas I'm looking forward to practising my contemporary idea's next week.
